CONVERSATION BETWEEN SAM VIRJAY, TECHNICAL SPECIALIST, AND JARED DAVIS, DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL SERVICES
VIRJAY: I think we’ve figured out what’s going on with this firewall breach.
DAVIS: Finally! What in the jim-jam Jeezus is going on? You know, all of us could get fired for this if it’s bad enough.
VIRJAY: Well, we’re pretty confident that the unauthorized access was limited to the personnel database.
DAVIS: Crap. Were they looking at Security personnel? Executives? Us?
VIRJAY: Pretty random, actually. No rhyme or reason to it. Each individual breach was very limited in scope, and very brief in duration.
DAVIS: Looking for what? Home addresses? Taxpayer IDs? Next of kin?
VIRJAY: Not even that. Every search was strictly limited to hobbies and interests. One breach, one person.
DAVIS: Hobbies and interests.
DAVIS: One breach, one person’s file searched.
VIRJAY: Yeah. And here’s the thing: Each breach originated here. The call was coming from inside the house.
DAVIS: Inside the house? You mean each breach was initiated by a Coerdian employee?
VIRJAY: Yeah. And really, there were no more than a handful. Mostly from our Division, to be honest.
DAVIS: [indistinct noise] I knew doing a Secret Santa thing this year was a bad idea.
